The Biak Numfor district government in Papua province is encouraging the development of agricultural zone in Suneri village, Yendidori sub-district into agro-fishery tourism.
The Biak Numfor district government highly supports preparations for the development of Suneri into agro-fishery tourism by providing production tools and various local farm commodities , Biak Numfor district head Herry Ario Naap said in a written statement released on Sunday.
The district head along with Chief of the Agriculture and Food Security Office I Made Suardana handed over the production tools and vegetable and fruit seeds to local people.
"Suneri area will specially be encouraged to become agro-fishery tourism. It currently becomes the center of the government's attention including the expansion of its area and the planting of several farm commodities," he said.
The assistance of vegetable and fruit seeds include 420 coconut seeds, 60 rambutan seeds, 250 durian seeds, 10 packs of kangkung seeds, 10 packs of cabbage seeds, 10 packs of tomato seeds, and 11 packs of mustard greens seeds.
Meanwhile, the production tool assistance includes one tractor, 40 sacks of fertilizers and 35 packs of insecticide.
The district head appealed to local farmers to continue to develop their farm business in order to increase their income and meet their family needs.
Ïf (the farm business) is managed properly, the farm produce will surely bring about a lot of money. Hopefully, the assistance will support the community to develop their farm businesses with various commodities," he said.
