Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalimantan) - PT Pelindo III Banjarmasin offers the use of the Port of Martapura Lama to investors for a nonport sector development.


Manager of PT Pelindo III Banjarmasin Hengki Jajang Herasmana here on Thursday said Martapura Lama area is now no longer possible to be developed as a port.

"The area of the former port of Martapura Lama is not efficient to be developed as a port, because the draft depth of the river is only 3-5 meters," said Hengki.

Currently, he said, the old harbor area reaches five hectares, one hectare of which will be utilized for the construction of the hospital of PHC (Pelindo Husada citra), which will begin in 2016.

The area, he added, is being offered to investors for use in accordance with the conditions of the region.

Since the last few years, the development of Trisakti Banjarmasin port fairly rapidly. Iron vessel, roro and container carrier, even Pelra ship, almost every day turns into the Barito Channel for loading and unloading goods.

The condition occurs because the Barito channel that was previously only able to be used six hours in a day, since dredged already passable 24 hours, without having to wait ups tide.
