Balangan District Government has targeted that the poverty rate to consistently decline to 5.0 percent or even 4.8 percent in 2026.

Deputy Regent Supiani in Paringin on Tuesday said that poverty addressing is one of the priorities in the regional medium-term development plan (RPJMD).

"That is our common target, we ask for your support to work together, hand in hand among us so that this target can be achieved," said Supiani during the FGD on prevention and reduction of poverty in Balangan.

The FGD focused on programs for the poor to be more effective and efficient so that groups of communities below the poverty line are given more attention and assistance that they really feel the benefit of the programs.

Head of the Balangan Development Planning, Research, and Development Agency (Bappedalitbang) Rakhmadi Yusni said that a team under the Regional Poverty Reduction Coordination Team (TKPKD) will be formed, as an implementing unit that involves related agencies in poverty reduction efforts.

"The formation of this team is hoped to have an impact on reducing poverty in Balangan," he said.

Head of Balangan BPS Deddy Winarno as a resource person said that it is a joint task to eradicate poverty and reduce income inequality for the Balangan community.

"Poverty alleviation is a big job that we need to do together simultaneously and across sectors, so that we can reduce the poverty rate," said Deddy.
