Balangan, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - According to data from the Balangan Forestry and Plantation Agency (Dishutbun) at least about 89 hectares residents' plantations land burnt in August.


Dishutbun head Haryono in Paringin revealed the 89 hectares of land burned are located in the two sub-districts, Batumandi and Lampihong.

"In Batumandi Sub-district precisely in the Teluk Mesjid village and Batumandi, while in Lampihong namely in Batu Merah village and the Teluk Karya," he said.

The 89 hectares of land burnt include rubber plantation and oil palm plantations owned by residents.

"Rubber plantations of 1.2 year old plant were 14 hectares burned and 43 hectares of two years old and over. While oil palm plantations with plant age of 1.2 years as many as 21 hectares and 11 hectares of two-year-old plant burned," said Haryono.

Peatland conditions in the area of ​​burned land said Haryono, makes fires handling a little difficult.

"Because of the condition of peat land, so the fire spreading under the ground have to work hard in handling," said haryono.

In anticipation of the fire disaster, Haryono admitted, the agency maximizing the role of the Fire Concerned Citizens (MPA) group and also formed a Group of Fire Concerned Farmers (KTPA).
