Amuntai, South Kalimantan (Antaranews.Kalsel) - The North Hulu Sungai (HSU) territory in South Kalimantan has potential deposits of oil located almost in all of its sub-districts.


Head of HSU Economics and Natural Resources Muhammad Rafiq in Amuntai on Thursday said the potential oil deposits have been detected in all 10 sub-districts in the district.

"PT Pertamina will examine whether the oil deposits in the district of HSU can be explored," he said.

According to Rafiq, based on the results of research in the era of Dutch, acquired the potential of oil deposits in six districts in South Kalimantan. "The most potential of that time studied was known in HSU," he said.

"Currently, Pertamina is still researching the potential to find a crater or basin and locations that have high economic value to be explored," said Rafiq.

Of the study on oil deposits in the Dutch Period only oil deposits in the region of Tabalong already explored.

Besides predicted to have potential oil deposits, HSU also has the potential of iron ore. Chunks of iron ore, said Rafiq, have been found in the Sub-district of Paminggir. However, this potential has not been developed seriously.
