Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Director of PDAM Bandarmasih Banjarmasin Ir Muslih stated, the water company is seeking raw water security for 40 years with the reservoir or a giant water storage construction plan.


In between iftar with reporters in PDAM Bandarmasih Office on Friday, he revealed the project estimated to cost Rp800 billion and targeted its construction begin next year in the area of Sungai Tabuk, Banjar District.

"This year the Detail Engineering Design (DED) of the project is planned to be completed, so the next year construction can begin," Muslih said.

According to him, the municipality and the local assembly has approved an equity from budget funds in this project. "We target equity participation of the city government to the construction of this dam Rp350 billion, which is carried out in stages," he said.

Muslih said that the taps company are also seeking funding from the provincial government and the central government in the construction of the reservoir.

"From the provincial government we target to get equity Rp135 billion, while from the center Rp215 billion," he said.

According to him, the construction of the planned reservoir in an area of 40 hectares will be able to survive the taps raw water up to 40 years, with the water quality maintained that is capable of supplying up to 5,000 liters per second.

"Nowadays our problem is the availability of raw water, because the main source of raw water in the Martapura river is very polluted," he explained.
