East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa made an earnest request to operators of the province's tourist attractions to necessitate the use of the "PeduliLindung" application as a prerequisite for entry.

"This is implemented to control the movement of people and ensure that tourists have been vaccinated. It is also important (for the tourist attractions' managers) to coordinate with the local COVID-19 task force," She noted at the Grahadi State Building here Saturday.

She remarked that East Java had a total of some 254 tourist attractions. Of the total, 154 tourist attractions have been opened to visitors by implementing various restrictions related to health protocols.

"Except for water-based tourist attractions, including swimming pools, as hotel facilities or others, are advised not to open yet," she noted.

The governor highlighted that the opening of tourism sites in East Java is still being conducted in stages and is limited.

According to Parawansa, the opening of tourist attractions aligned with the results of a coordination meeting with the central government and the results of an assessment by the Ministry of Health, which designated East Java as the first province with Level 1 of Public Activity Restrictions (PPKM).

"This achievement is the result of hard work of all parties, and this is a form of our mutual cooperation and solidarity. Remember, do not become slack and continue to follow health protocols and immediately get vaccinated," she remarked.

As part of the efforts to handle COVID-19 in the country, the Indonesian government has launched the PeduliLindungi application that includes features, such as QR scanner, COVID-19 map, statistics, vaccination registration, digital passport, telemedicine, travel diary, e-HAC, and telemedicine.
