Sjamsudin Noor Air Base conducted a COVID-19 vaccine drive at the airport to support the emergency public activity restriction (PPKM Darurat) implemented across Java and Bali.

"Vaccine is an aircraft travel requirement during the Java and Bali emergency PPKM, that's why we facilitate it for prospective passengers," said Commander of Sjamsudin Noor Air Base Colonel Yulmaizir Chaniago in Banjarbaru, Friday.

Not only aircraft passengers, the free vaccine also targets workers at the Syamsudin Noor International Airport as an effort to accelerate national vaccination.

"The vaccination drive is a form of implementation of President Joko Widodo's order with a national target of one million injections per day," said Yulmaizir.

Then in line with the order of TNI Commander Air Chief Marshall Hadi Tjahjanto to Air Force Chief of Staff Air Chief Marshall Fadjar Prasetyo which was followed by Air Force Operation Commander (Pangkoopsau II) Marshall Minggit Tribowo to all ranks of Koopsau II to carry out vaccination at the airport as a gateway for people in and out inter-regions in Indonesia.

In addition to the airport, Sjamsudin Noor Air Base also continues to open a vaccination service every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during July 2021 for the public at the Sjamsudin Noor Air Force Hospital.

Meanwhile, GM of PT Angkasa Pura I Syamsudin Noor Airport Amiruddin Florensius expressed his gratitude to the Air Base for its assistance by providing vaccines for aircraft passengers as well as the airport community.

"We hope that this activity to continue gradually until it is completed to stop the spread of COVID-19 when immunity is built in the community," he said.
