Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Kotabaru administration plans to divert the operation of ferry Tanjung Serdang-Batulicin to Pembelacanan-sigam.

"If the bridge connecting the mainland Kalimantan with Pulaulaut Kotabaru completed, we plan the existing ferry to serve Pembelacanan-sigam crossing," said Regent Irhami Ridjani in Kotabaru, Sunday.

Until now, the distribution of passengers and goods from Kotabaru to Pembelacanan, Sub-district of South Kelumpang, or otherwise served by wooden boat with a capacity of not more than 10 tons with a distance of about one hour.

Regent said, funding the construction of a bridge whose length is approximately 6 kilometers will be disbursed this year amounted to Rp50 billion. "Next year will be increased to approximately Rp150 billion from provincial and district budget," said Irhami.

The original plan, the construction of the bridge jointly funded, about Rp500 billion by Kotabaru, Tanah Bumbu Rp500 billion, Rp500 billion to Rp1 trillion by provincial government and the rest from the central government.

He hoped that the construction of the bridge could open up areas that are still lagging behind and encourage economic growth in Kotabaru.

Irhami expect, all regions in Kotabaru can be accessed either by road or sea, including the opening of crossing Pembelacanan-sigam.
