Banjarbaru was named Indonesia's 2021 Top 10 best cities and received the Regional Development Award (PPD) from the National Development Planning Ministry (PPN/Bappenas).

Mayor HM Aditya Mufti Ariffin on Saturday said he was both grateful and proud of the national achievement have been achieved that made Banjarbaru was increasingly known at the national level. 

"The award achieved cannot be separated from the synergy and harmonization of the Banjarbaru government working units (SKPD) in increasing regional development innovation and has an impact on the progress of the development of the city of Banjarbaru," he said.

The Ministry bestowed the award of the top 10 best cities to Surabaya, Bandung, Denpasar, Banjarbaru, Dumai, Jambi, Padang, Palembang, Semarang, and Yogyakarta.

The awards were presented at the 2021 National Development Planning Conference (Musrenbangnas) which was held virtually at the East Java Liaison Agency, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (4/5).

The National Development Planning Minister Suharso Monoarfa said PPD was an appreciation bestowed to local governments for their achievement in quality development planning.

"The award is given to cities, districts, to provinces for their success in achieving the regional development targets and innovating to overcome regional development problems," he said.
