The North Hulu Sungai Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM), which also oversees the Balangan and Tabalong, still found food products with damaged packaging and expired in some traders.

"Our officers are still finding damaged packages and their validity period has expired, but still on display," said Head of BPOM HSU Bambang Herry Purwanto in Amuntai, Wednesday.

BPOM officers could only warn traders not to sell these damaged and expired products. If traders do not heed the warning, then BPOM together with law enforcement will confiscate the food products.

Bambang said from four places were checked, 30 damaged food products were found in one place, 7 products in another, one in another, and one expired drug (24 sachets) in the fourth place.

BPOM HSU officers also found a shop selling 12 items of G-class drug.

In 1-3 places, the goods were set aside to be returned, while in the fourth place the goods were set aside and destroyed by the owner.

Bambang again reminded the public to always do a KLIK check, namely checking the packaging, label, distribution permit, and date of expire when buying and consuming packaged food products.

"Then back to consumers to be careful in buying products," he said.

During Ramadhan, BPOM HSU has conducted four intensifications of food monitoring activities until Eid al Fitr to ensure the food safety of consumers.
