The Tabalong District Government continues its effort to green the former landfill in Maburai Village, Murung Pudak Sub-district, through tree planting.
This is part of the simultaneous planting of one million trees across South Kalimantan in a Green Revolution drive to rehabilitate forest and critical lands in 2021.
Head of Tabalong Environment Agency Rowi Rawatianice said 1,500 seedlings of sengon, soursop, alaban, various other types of seeds were prepared with the hope to restore the environment for forest areas in the province.
The action was initiated by the District Secretary of Tabalong Abdul Muthalib Sangadji together with Regional Leaders Communication Forum (Forkopimda), related agencies, communities, and students.
"This planting is a joint form of preserving the environment, including the former Maburai final disposal," said Rowi.
Rowie added that the plants' maintenance will involve the Maburai landfill manager so they can grow well.
