Amuntai, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Regent of North Hulu Sungai or HSU, H Abdul Wahid, provided SDN (state elementary school) Danau Terate in Sub-district Bajang with a boat as an assistance.


Regent provided boat because of the condition of the school which is quite remote and only rely on boats for transportation of teachers and students during the flood.

The elementary school students in sub-district Bajang were off, because the water inundated school.
 
Nurdin, one of the teachers, said that the students were off on Monday (16/2) as their parents found difficulties to see off and pick up children's by boats.

When the Regent and the DPRD chairman stopped over at the school, some teachers were in the school and rushed to welcome them.

Secretary of the HSU Education Agency Amberani in Amuntai on Tuesday said, 28 kindergartens and elementary schools in the district were flooded.

Although the school are flooded, but the decision to dismiss the students depending on the school principal.

"We just assign head of technical implementation unit (UPT) to monitor the condition of the school and then provide advice to the principals, if they should dismiss the students," said Amberani through a press release.

Based on the results of monitoring UPT head  in all districts, as many as 19 elementary schools and nine kindergarten schools flooded.

Most schools submerged are in the Sub-district of Banjang. There were eight primary schools and six kindergartens inundated here.
