Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Malaysian Foreign tourists Aminah Ahmad hopes Syamsudin Noor airports Banjarmasin soon materializes into an international airport.


Aminah Ahmad expressed her hope on Wednesday before traveling to Sepinggan Balikpapan International Airport to continue her flight to Kuala Lumpur.

Aminah Ahmad is Banjar ethnic descent who have been living for generations in Malaysia. She came to Banjarmasin with eight of her brothers. Her father came from Banjar tribe in Balangan.

According to her, if Syamsudin Noor become international airport it will facilitate Malaysian Banjar descent to see their ancestors land in South Kalimantan.

So many Malaysians Banjar descent who want to susur galur (looking for ascendents) travel to ancestors land of South Kalimantan. Millions of Banjar descent live for generations in the land of Malay.

But the problem is Syamsudin Noor Airport not able to accommodate the large airplanes. As a result, many Malaysia tourists must first fly to Sepinggan Balikpapan then flying again to Banjarmasin.

Or to save costs, they ride shuttles land vehicles (buses) from Balikpapan to Banjarmasin with nearly 12 hours.

Most Malaysians ancestry derived from Kelua Banjar in Tabalong, Amuntai in North Hulu Sungai, Lampihong and Paringin in Balangan, and Batang Alai in Central Hulu Sungai.
