Banjarmasin Legislative Council (DPRD) Speaker H Harry Wijaya asked elderly citizens not to be afraid of being vaccinated, so they are safer from contracting COVID-19.

"I have been vaccinated, I feel like normal, I mean I don't get any health effects. So, don't be afraid to be vaccinated, especially for elderly, I think it's important they get it," he said here on Saturday.

As is known, he said, the second phase vaccination program is prioritized for the elderly and the public.

"I hope every elderly in our area are vaccinated because they are vulnerable to the virus," said Harry.

He asked the city government, who carries out the vaccination, to be more intensive and detail in socialization, so that elderly could really understand the benefits.

"Because false information frequently spread first, they should be warded off," said the PAN politician.

he also assured that the vaccine is safe for the elderly and it was proven by Vice President KH Ma'ruf Amin who had been vaccinated.

He also said that all members of the city council have stated that they are ready to be vaccinated.

"So, once more, don't afraid, this is our step to fight the Coronavirus, so it will disappear from the earth," said Harry.

Meanwhile, the first phase of vaccination for health workers in the city has almost completed according to the target, which is over 80 percent from 7,000 targets.
