Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Kotabaru Narcotics Agency establish a drug-free village and recruit at least 100 teenagers as anti-drug youth.


Chief of Kotabaru District Narcotics Agency (BNK) H Rudy Suryana on Sunday said antidrug cadets are spearheading of a program to terminate narcotics, psychotropic and addictive substances (popularly known as narkoba) chain.

"In addition to already formed (pilot projec) of village free from drug trafficking, BNK Kotabaru also recruits cadets," he said.

Antidrug cadets to be recruited from 21 subdistricts, each represented by three teenagers, and specifically for the North Pulaulaut, which is the capital city of Kotabaru, be recruited about 40 people.

Before they are deployed (on duty) to their respective areas, antidrug cadets will be educated and trained for three days with varied materials, especially related to drugs and danger.

Rudy Suryana, who is also Vice Regent of Kotabaru, hopes the drug distribution program in Kotabaru District can be supressed to maximum.

"Even we expect Kotabaru free from drug circulation, according to the target in 2015," he said.

Kotabaru Police Chief AKBP Rizal Irawan accompanied by Chief of Drugs Police Unit AKP Sudiyono on Sunday, said of 118 drug cases here, 38 cases of which were cases of the type of narcotic. Looking at the numbers, drug cases is likely to increase in the last three years.

According to chief of Drug Unit Police, from the analysis of Kotabaru Police, the suspect of drug are mostly adults, between 50 years and over, instead of teenagers.
