While low flood has begun to inundate parts of Central Hulu Sungai (HST), residents are worried Benawa River and Batang Alai River to overflow simultaneously.

According to residents of Balimau Village, Pendawan Sub-district, if the two rivers overflow simultaneously, the city of Barabai (165 kilometers north of Banjarmasin), the capital of the district, will be flooded.

"Especially if water in Nagara, South Hulu Sungai (HSS), is full (not moving), it is certain that Barabai is swamped. Don't know the depth level," said a resident.

Meanwhile, Kampung Qadi in Barabai, especially some areas along the riverbanks, had been puddled, although water from Benawa River only passed through the capital.

HST Deputy Regent candidate HM Ilham Efendhy, who lives in Kampung Qadi, said some of the residential areas near the river inundated, even though the water was not as big as two weeks ago.
