Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - Head of the South Kalimantan Public Works Agency Martinus hopes, a new Pangeran Bridge can function late by end of 2014 or early 2015.

When reviewing the development of the construction of the bridge --cost about Rp22 billion--  linking the South and Central Kalimantan, on Thursday, he declared the building foundation has been completed and among which left is oprit. The work takes one month.

As per plan, the old bridge will be retained. Thus, the bridge between Jalan S Parman and Jalan Brig H Hasan Basry will be twins. Each bridge only for one way traffic, into and out of the city.

"But to dismantle the old bridge to be a twin bridge is still waiting for the readiness of the Government of Banjarmasin for land acquisition subject to development," he said.

He estimates, the construction of a replacement old bridge began in 2016 with a period of approximately one year of work. He hoped that the Balai Besar Jalan dan Jembatan (Board of Road and Bridge) Kalimantan to program it.

He also expects the participation of all levels of society in order to smooth the Pangeran bridge construction, so it can be completed within time.

"As will happen in October, there will be traffic arrangements, which may make the road users disturbed or discomfort," he continued. He was accompanied by Muntaal from the Balai Besar Jalan and Jembatan Kalimantan.

"We hope that, with the establishment of the twin bridges could reduce traffic congestion in the city of Banjarmasin, particularly those from South Kalimantan-Central Kalimantan," said Martin.
