The attention and support of the North Hulu Sungai (HSU), South Kalimantan, government for the increase in people's interest in reading is very high, said Head of South Kalimantan Office of Library and Archive (Dispersip) Nurliani.

Nurliani in Amuntai on Wednesday said that HSU was lucky because the district government paid high attention and concern to increase reading interest.

"In terms of budgeting, HSU is a district with the largest budget among 13 districts and cities in South Kalimantan," she said.

She also assessed that HSU is very lucky to have a reading ambassador since 2017, while the South Kalimantan Dispersip does not have yet.

Especially, the HSU Chairwoman of Driving Team of Family Welfare Movement (TP PKK) Hj Anisah Rasyidah also very concern about increasing interest in reading and library, thus she was named as Mother of Reading (Bunda Baca).

Nurliani, who visited Amuntai to hand over the Mobile Library Car, said she often monitored the activities of HSU's Mother of Reading through news, that often accompanied the activities of the head of Dispersip and the ranks to various villages.

"I also have been with her (Anisah Rasyidah) visited Ambahai Village on klotok (traditional river motorboat) till broke-down on the way to promote reading interest in remote areas," she said.

"Maybe we should learn to HSU," said Nurliani.

Not need to be ashamed, according to her, if it turns out the district library has the advantages that the provincial does not have.

HSU Regent H Abdul Wahid HK said, the district government consistently trying to increase public interest in reading even with a limited budget.

"Although the achievement in the library are not yet like the archive, which has won ANRI Award and national archive competition, the local government keeps the efforts to increase people's interest in reading," he said.
