Tabalong Action for Clean Indonesian was a form of participation of the district in the 2020 World Cleanup Day (WCD) activities.

This year WCD action was in the form of cleanup & sorting waste from home with the theme “Unite for Clean Indonesia” which was considered to be relevant with the current condition of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Various parties in Tabalong took part in the cleanup action from 12 to 19 September 2020.

Adaro Bangun Negeri Foundation (YABN) was no exception. It always committed to protecting the environment. YABN had initiated the Clean Up Tabalong Day since 2015. It took part in the action on Friday (18/9).

"From 08.00 dozens of employees gathered in the courtyard, starting with morning exercise as a campaign to increase the body's immunity to stay healthy in the midst of the pandemic, then continued with cleanup action by collecting garbage and sorting it out in the office environment,” said YABN's HRGA HSE Novika Sari.

The garbage collected was sorted by type, then taken to the nearest waste management facility.

Waste sorting, especially at home or from it source, was the key element that determines the efficiency, effectiveness, success, and sustainability of waste management.

“We donate the sorted waste which have economic value to the Maluyung Bersinar Waste Bank, which is under the guidance of YABN, to be managed,” said Novika.

Novika said these activities did not end just like that. Her party will always schedule similar action in the future and campaign it, especially to YABN employees, to always keep the surrounding environment clean and healthy.

Separately, PT Adaro Energy CSR Department Head Zuraida Murdia Hamdie said World Cleanup Day was momentum for community synergy with the local government agencies, policymakers, environment care community, and levels of society.

“All parties become a unity to increase awareness in managing waste more wisely," said Zuraida.
