South Kalimantan recorded 0,27 percent deflation in July with a consumer price index (IHK) of 105,04 and all cities in the province posted a deflation. 

Head of the South Kalimantan Central Statistics Agency (BPS) M Edy Mahmud in Banjarbaru on Monday said, based on the July's price index Banjarmasin recorded 0,28 percent deflation, Tanjung 0,08 percent, and Kotabaru 0,37 percent.

"Most of groups of expenditure have deflated," he said in a monthly virtual press conference through the agency's Youtube channel.

The price of the group of food, beverage, and tobacco deflated by 1,28 percent, followed by education 0,5 percent, cloth and foodwear 0,15 percent.

Then housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuel 0,14 percent, and the group of information, communication, service and financial service 0,06 percent.

"Commodities with the highest share of deflation included shallot, snakehead fish, garlic, sugar, and hot chili," he said. 

Meanwhile, the price index of several other groups increased, namely personal care and service 1,28 percent, recreation, sports and culture 1,27 percent.

Household equipment and routine maintenance 0,5 percent, health 0,39 percent, transportation 0,17 percent, and food and beverage supply group 0,01 percent. 

"Commodities shared the highest to inflation were egg, gold jewelry, mackerel, air transport," said the new official. 

If calculated based on the calender year, South Kalimantan in July 2020 experienced 0,03 percent inflation, while year-on-year inflation (July 2020 against July 2019) was 0,9 percent.
