Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - South Kalimantan General Elections Commission (KPU) invites all elements of society to work together to combat the practice of money politics in the presidential election, July 9, 2014.


The invitation was delivered by member of the KPU in charge of South Kalimantan socialization, Masyitah Umar, in Banjarmasin, Wednesday (11/6) night.

"Whatever the reason, money politics, besides contrary to positive law, Islam also forbids these ways," said Masyitah, who is also the former Dean of the Faculty of Syariah of IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin.

On that occasion, she quoted the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him related to the bribery prohibition.

Previously, Chairman of the South Kalimantan Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) Mahyuni ​​said it was difficult to follow up reports or allegations of money politics to be processed according to law. From experience so far, those who reported knowing of any money politics do not want to testify, but merely inform.

"While Bawaslu not have the power to compel witnesses in order to testify. This problem has been an obstacle to enforcement of regulations," he said.

"Another difficulty handling money politics is the politics of money related rules only stated the money politics on the D day (of voting). Granting before voting day can not be categorized as money politics," said Muhyani.
