PT Adaro Energy Tbk has handed over five ambulance units to assist the handling of COVID-19 in the South and Central Kalimantan.

PT Adaro Energy Tbk's Banjarmasin Representative Office Dept Head Abdurahman said, the five ambulances will be distributed to districts where PT Adaro Indonesia and PT Adaro Metcoal operate, namely Tabalong and Balangan in South Kalimantan, then East Barito, South Barito, and Murung Raya in Central Kalimantan.

Adaro, he said, is committed to taking part in efforts to contain the coronavirus outbreak. One of which by disbursing donation of Rp20 billion to National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB).

The assistance was then used by the central Task Force to purchase 25 ambulances and five of them are for BPBD in five districts where Adaro operates.

"Our hope, the handling of COVID-19 patient will be faster with this ambulance. For example, mobility from patient house to a referral hospital, so undesirable things do not happen," he said.

The handover of the five ambulances at the PT Adaro Indonesia Banjarmasin Representative in Banjarbaru was attended by Head of South Kalimantan Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Agency Isharwanto.

He expressed his gratitude to Adaro for making real contribution to COVID-19 in the region. 

"The government cannot work alone, this COVID-19 contaning effort must indeed be contributed by all parties, including mining companies who have CSR fund to help," he said.
