Midwives and Health Education in Remote Areas

Tanjung, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - The Tabalong Health Agency (Dinkes) will increase midwives to be placed in remote areas in the village of Salikung and Sungai Kumap, Muara Uya to improve health services for rural communities .

Chief of Tabalong Dinkes, Syarifudin Basri, said besides adding midwives in remote areas, health education programs also carried out for local residents to be financed by the government or a third party that they will be at service in their home village.

"This year we plan an addition of five midwives, two doctors and two nurses, so that remote areas can get health care," said Syarifudin in Tanjung, Tabalong's capital.

Previously, local health agency has placed six nurses and one midwife as a permanent employee in remote areas Dambung Raya village, the village of Hegar Manah, Panaan Village, Subdistrict Bintang Ara.

Currently Tabalong has 205 midwives, five specialist doctors, 42 general practitioners and 259 nurses. While 

health facilities are 13 community health center, three inpatient health center, 203 posyandu (integrated health services posts) models and as many as 109 poskesdes (subdistrict health post) spread over 12 subdistricts.
