The South Kalimantan COVID-19 Handling Acceleration Task Force requested airport operator PT Angkasa Pura I to limit flights at the Syamsuddin Noor International Airport to one flight for each airline.
Daily Chief of the task force Wahyuddin in Banjarbaru on Thursday (Apr 2, 2020) declared the request was in line with the governor's circular No. 188.44/0210/KUM/2020 concerning restriction on the inflow of people coming from outside the South Kalimantan.
Through this letter, the governor decided that South Kalimantan would limit the inflow of outsiders to the province in an effort to cut the spread of coronavirus from outside as much as possible.
According to Wahyuddin, in terms of flight restriction, in addition to reducing the frequency of flights from 06.00 to 18:00 p.m., the airline is obliged to adjust the seat distance by emptying one seat in the middle.
The airline is also required to monitor the health and safety of officers on duty.
The PT Angkasa Pura I as the management of Syamsudin Noor Banjarmasin International Airport stated it is ready to carry out the Ministry of Transportation's decision regarding restriction on entry into South Kalimantan.
"If there is a decision from the Ministry of Transportation limiting people through the airport, we are ready to implement it," said the Syamsudin Noor Airport Communication and Legal Manager Aditya Putra P in Banjarbaru, Wednesday.
The limitation of people entering South Kalimantan was proposed by the provincial government to the ministry, so it become the central authority's decision.
"We only received copies of the request submitted by the South Kalimantan Provincial Government to the Ministry of Transportation. So the decision is the authority of the center and us as operator ready to carry out," he said.
