The South Kalimantan Regional Police confirmed information circulating on social media that said about the closure of the border between South and Central Kalimantan was a hoax.
"It's false information spread by irresponsible people. We beg you not to easily believe and no need to fret," said the South Kalimantan Regional Police's Traffic Director Sr Comr Andi Azis Nizar in Banjarmasin, Wednesday (March 25, 2020).
He assured there is so far no instruction from the government to close the border on the land route. Access in and out of vehicle is running normally as usual.
However, people are advised to stay at home and to reduce activities outside to prevent transmission and spread of coronavirus pandemic.
"For the time being government advised people to limit social interaction by keeping a distance, not to leave the house if there is no urgent need and maintain hygiene by diligently washing hands and wearing a mask when leaving the house," Andi said.
Security forces will dispel forcibly whenever there is a crowd or celebration that gathers many people. This is based on the National Police Chief Edict No. Mak/2/III/2020 concerning compliance with government policies in handling coronavirus (COVID-19) spread.
"Let us together care to press the coronavirus outbreak so it will pass quickly. Obey the government advises, Insya Allah this highly infectious disease cab be handled and no longer cause fatalities," said Andi.
Until Wednesday afternoon, South Kalimantan has one positive case of coronavirus from eight patients under surveillance (PDP).
While in Central Kalimantan, three people were confirmed positive, 48 patients under surveillance (PDP), with detail of negative result 21 people, positive 3 and 24 waiting for laboratory results.
Previously, information circulating on social media that the border of the two provinces at Taman Anjir Km 14 road. It said that at the COVID-19 health checkpoint at the border any vehicle with Central Kalimantan license number was told to turn back.
Kapuas Timur Police Chief First Insp. Siti Rabiyatul Adawiyah explained that the truth was the post command officers monitor and check residents who came in and out of Central Kalimantan.
It was confirmed by the Anjir Pasar Police Chief Sc.Insp Achwadi, whose jurisdiction was the entrance to South Kalimantan at the border in the District of Barito Kuala.
