The construction of Tapin Dam, one of the National Strategic Project (PSN), in Pipitak Jaya Village, Piani Sub-district, Tapin, South Kalimantan, has now reached 95 percent and is targeted to be completed this year.


The closure of the dam for filling water is planned to be officiated by the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) in June 2020.

"Yes, the plan to close the dam to contain river water will be carried out by Minister of PUPR in June," said Regent of Tapin HM Arifin Arpan here on Friday (March 1, 2020).

Filling the dam certainly takes a long time, could be one year, depending on rainfall.

"Yes, of course, we will see rainfall too, if the time to dam the rainfall is quite high it will certainly be helpful for filling the Tapin Dam," he said.

The Tapin Dam, which is about 23 kilometers from Rantau, the capital of Tapin District, is targeted by the President H Joko Widodo to be completed by the end of 2020.

"For the inauguration itself whether it will be carried out by the President, we will first discuss it with the Ministry of PUPR," said the regent.

The dam, which is built since 2015 using a cost of Rp1,058 trillion, is expected to provide raw water 500 liters per second and become a leading tourist destination in Tapin.

"In addition, the dam also built hydro-power plant with a capacity of more than 3 megawatts," he said.

To succeed in the development of the Tapin Dam as targeted by the president, the regent hopes the role of the surrounding community and other parties to support.

"We continue to monitor, Police Chief, Commander of 1010/Rantau Military Command also continue to monitor and coordinate with us," said Arifin Arpan.
