Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - Fishermen catch fish in Kotabaru district, South Kalimantan, declined in recent weeks, due to bad weather and high waves.

"Under normal conditions we can reach the catch about 40-50 quintals of fish once down at sea, but lately only about 30 quintals," said Rampa fisherman, Suraji, here on Friday.

Suraji explained, lately erratic weather at sea, sometimes calm flow but a few moments later a sudden strong winds accompanied the high waves.

Due to the high waves and the erratic weather, fishermen have to be careful and be more clever to predict the weather.

He claimed, the area around the Kotabaru waters, the type of fish that is often caught in between are tuna, bloating, mackerel and various other fish species.

A housewife in Baharu, Yayuk, confessed she was surprised when buying fish bleary Rp40,000 per kilogram and dried cuttlefish Rp60,000 per kilogram.

" In fact, before bleary dried fish and dried squid fish range between Rp20,000 and Rp40,000 per kg," she said.

Housewife in North Baharu, Ummi Fatima, adding she was shocked when buying rumah-rumah fish Rp10,000 per medium piece. "In fact, the fish price usually around Rp2,500 - Rp 3,000 per piece, " she said.

Almost all species of marine fish in Complex Kemakmuran Market and daily markets in Kotabaru soared.
