Minister of Health Terawan Agus Putranto stated in a stunting seminar held in Banjarmasin, Saturday (Feb 8, 2020), there should be a commitment to improving nutritional status.

He remarked that the starting point of human resources development is by ensuring the health of pregnant women, the health of infants, toddlers, and school children because this is to guarantee the golden age in making the superior Indonesian people.

Previously, the Coordinating Ministry of Human Development and Culture Prof Dr Muhadjir Effendy delivered the nine missions of President Joko Widodo, including to improve the quality of Indonesian people, the productive, independent, and competitive economic structure, the equitable and fair development, and to achieve a sustainable environment.

The seminar on the low height-for-age or stunting at the Provincial General Hospital of Ulin (RUSD Ulin) Banjarmasin was in the series of National Press Day (HPN) celebration in South Kalimantan.

Governor of South Kalimantan at the seminar said, "The problem of nutrition is a big enough issue in the world, but the reduction in stunting is considered slow."

Stunting, he pointed out, is a chronic nutritional problem caused by a lack of nutrition for a long time. Besides, the problems related to dwarfism (stunting) occur from the womb and only seen when the child is two years old.

He insisted this problem should be a common concern, not only as a strategic agenda, but it must be eliminated. At least to minimize the number.

"In the future, we must solve this problem. If we cannot eliminate it, at least we can minimize it," he said after the seminar.
