PT PLN South and Central Kalimantan took a quick action to secure the safety of flood-affected residents in the District of Tabalong by temporarily cutting the electricity.


The Manager of PLN's Tanjung Customer Service Unit Topan Setyawan on Thursday (Feb 6, 2020) revealed his parties has monitored the potential for flooding since very early at 1.00 a.m. when the water has risen. PLN Tanjung then cut the electricity in some areas of Haruai sub-district, Tabalong.

"It has been since midnight we have monitored the flow of water when water is getting higher the power cut is taken. It's all for the sake of people's safety, so there is no fatalities from being stunned," he noted in a press release.

Until 6.00 a.m. due to higher water discharge, and people asking electricity to be cut, PLN finally made further anticipation, by expanding the outages.

"Thursday morning water getting higher, there were many reports from the public asking for the power to be turned off. At 06.28 a.m. we finally expanding the area of the outage as a preventive measure for the sake of people safety and security," he stated.

At the same time, in an effort to minimize power cut in areas not affected by a flood, PLN went directly to the field to localize the network, thus the electricity could be distributed to unaffected areas.  

The downpour since Wednesday to early Thursday in some areas in South Kalimantan have caused flood and puddle. One of the area severely affected by flood is Tabalong. 

PLN is committed to continuing to conduct monitoring in the field. If water recedes, it will immediately supply electricity to customers.
