As many as 576 kempo athletes from 33 provinces of all over Indonesia are fighting to win in the 20th National Sport Week Prequalification (Pra-PON) held in Rudi Resnawan Sporthall (GOR) in Banjarbaru.

They fight in 17 mathch, consisted of 11 numbers of embu (technique) and 6 numbers of randori (fighting) from Novermber 11 to 16, 2019.

South Kalimantan Indonesia Shorinji Kempo Federation (Perkemi) Chairman Akhmad Fydayeen thanked the Governor of South Kalimantan for his supporting to the implementation of the event.

"We are very grateful to Uncle Birin (popular name of the governor) for his fully support till this event could be carried out," he remarked.

Chairman of the Board of Shorinji Kempo Indonesia Brotherhood Aswari Rivai asked all athletes to be able to compete in sportsmanship and still uphold the brotherhood.

"Stay sporty in the game, remember we are all brothers," said Aswari.

Governor in his remarks read by the Provincial Secretary  H Abdul Haris conveyed his gratitude that South Kalimantan has been trusted to host the Pra-PON national championship.

He hoped this championship will improve the regional sport achievement and to produce athletes who make a good name of the region either in national or international event.
