Deputy Regent of South Hulu Sungai (HSS) Syamsuri Arsyad officially launched Pihanin Village, South Daha Sub-district, as an area free from destructive fishing practices and distributing environmentally friendly fishing gear.


"This activity is expected to provide awareness of the importance of protecting environmental sustainability," he said, "damaging the area," he remarked at the Office of the Village Chief of Pihanin Raya.

He explained that the use of destructive fishing gear can cause environmental damage and damage its protection, not only the surrounding environment that requires natural resources, especially fish.

Of course, he pointed out, the current generation does not want their children and grandchildren to inherit a corrupted nature that they cannot use.

He appealed that this activity become an initial commitment to protect each other's environment, without the need for supervision also prohibitions, must be willing and must be able to become people who care about environmental sustainability.

The Head of the HSS Fisheries Service Saidinoor said the project to change the area to a destructive fishery-free zone would become a pilot. While Pihanin Village chosen was supported by the awareness of local fishermen who were willing to return to the use of environmentally friendly fish tools and materials.
