Al Jihad Mosque Banjarmasin is always flooded every year by people who want to sacrifice for Eid al-Adha. This year, as many as 89 cows and 7 goats were slaughtered, becoming the highest number in South Kalimantan for one location to slaughter sacrificial animals.

"This year we distribute more than 10,000 bags of sacrificial meat," explained the Head of the Sacrifice Committee at the Al Jihad Mosque in Banjarmasin Muddasir, Sunday.

The committee noted that there were around 650 registered to sacrifice. Each person must at least deposit a sacrifice fund of Rp 2,130,000.

"Thank God, every year we always get the trust of people who want to sacrifice. Not only from Banjarmasin and its surroundings, there are even many residents from outside South Kalimantan," Muddasir said.

The volunteers totaling around 300 people were also busy helping. They work sincerely without pay and only expect pleasure from Allah through the blessings of worship sacrifice.

"Specifically for the process of skinning meat, we employ 18 experts from Pelaihari," said Muddasir who is also the Chairperson of the Al Jihad Mosque Board of Management.

To ensure that sacrificial animals are healthy and safe for consumption, the Victim Animal Inspection Team from the Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Division of the Banjarmasin City Food, Agriculture and Fisheries Service inspected every cow and goat after being slaughtered.

The team consisting of veterinarians check the postmortem, which is an examination of the animal's interior after slaughter, which includes the condition of the liver, heart, lungs, spleen, kidney and other internal organs.

"Of all the animals checked, thank God it was declared safe and no liver worm infections were found and so on," said Muddasir.
