Banjarmasin, 8/5 (Antaranews, South Kalimantan) - South Kalimantan Legislative Council (DPRD) Commission III on Development and Infrastructure proposed completion of construction of three dams in the province to the central government.
 
The proposal was presented during a working visit to the Directorate General of Water Resources Ministry of Public Works on Wednesday, according to Ibnu Sina, a member of Commission III, told reporters in Banjarmasin after the meeting.

Three proposed dam were Amandit in South Hulu Sungai (HSS), Dam Alai in Central Hulu Sungai (HST) and the Dam Pitap in Balangan District.

During the visit of the Commission III headed by H Puar Junaidi  to the Directorate General of Water Resources (SDA), it was also proposed in the continued development of Reservoir Tapin, Tapin district.

According to him, the Commission III proposal is quite reasonable. Due to recent MPW longer viable to build a dam, because Indonesia has had 300 reservoir/dam.

"When compared with some other countries, the number of reservoirs in Indonesia is still relatively small. Example Japan has 5,000 while Korea has 3,000 reservoirs and dams," he said.

"As we know, the existence of reservoirs not only for agriculture and water sources, but can also serve as flood control," said a two periods member of parliament.

In addition, through the Directorate General of Water Resources Ministry of Public Works, Commission III requesting the central government to immediately solve the flood prevention in Banjar Regency.

"One of the flood control efforts, by normalizing the Tuan River and Martapura River, which reached 20 billion cost estimate, as the study of the Ministry of Research and Technology," he continued.

"Other things that requested the attention of the central government by Commission III, including the handling of floods in the city and folder Amuntai Alabio in North Hulu Sungai (HSU)," according to Ibnu Sina.
