Regent Banjar Khalilurrahman is determined to maintain the identity of Gambut Sub-district as Kindai Limpuar or rice barns that are able to meet the demands of the people of South Kalimantan.


The Banjar Communication and Informatics (Diskominfo) in its written report received by Antara in Martapura on Thursday said the regent's statement delivered during the celebration of the rice harvest as well as launching packaged Gambut rice and the inauguration of farmer groups.

"Gambut is still maintained as Kindai Limpuar and is increasingly being introduced through its rice which has entered the supermarket in the form of packaging so it is easy to find it," said the regent.

According to him, Gambut rice is still an icon for the people of South Kalimantan and is an idol rice for every Banua (local) people so it must be introduced to the wider community.

The agricultural sector is still one of the development priorities in the Banjar District and the largest contributor to the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) compared to other sectors.
