The rare Sarigading woven fabric which is threatened with extinction is displayed on the North Hulu Sungai (HSU) Regency trade booth in the commemoration of the 26th National Family Day (Harganas) in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan.
The PKK North Hulu Sungai (HSU) Chairwoman Anisah Rasyidah said on Thursday, there are only about seven sarigading woven fabric craftsmen in the district. They only exist in Sungai Tabukan Subdistrict, which used to be Sungai Pandan Sub-district, Alabio, before it was divided.
"Craft skills are obtained from generation to generation and the function of woven fabrics is used for treatment," Anisah told.

At the Harganas trade show she deliberately brought a woman craftsman and her child to show visitors how to weave Sarigading.
South Kalimantan Governor H. Shahbir Noor, also witnessed the weaving process while visiting the HSU stand. "I salute the Regional Government of HSU keep preserving its traditions and culture," he said.
Sarigading fabric motifs are quite varied and made with hand skills, without machines, and using natural dyes from certain plants and fruits.

As an area known as a craft center in South Kalimantan, HSU also displays a variety of handicraft products, such as bags from Lupu (red rattan), water hyacinth bags, purun bags and so on, various culinary and local processed food.
Chairwoman of the PKK Central dr. Erni Guntarti Tjahjo Kumolo in Banjarbaru said the trade exhibition was an effort to introduce a family economic empowerment program by displaying SME products, especially UPPKS groups from all provinces in Indonesia.
