The Banjarmasin Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BBPOM) invites all people to monitor the circulation of drugs or foods those are dangerous or unhealthy independently by checking packaging, labels, marketing permits, and expiration to keep them safe when consumed.


Head of BBPOM Banjarmasin Muhammad Guntur here said that the agency now has a bpom mobile application in which there are several menus to find out whether food is registered with BPOM or not.

"Consumer simply enter the name of the food or beverage product or enter the product registration number into the application, then some information appears whether the product is registered or not," said Guntur.

Consumers should be vigilant and not consume, if food or beverage products are not registered

The they must report to BBPOM so officers can follow up on the complaint to ensure the food consumed by the community is truly safe and feasible.

"We, as officers, should synergize in the supervision of circulating drugs and food by involving all community members," he said.

While ready-to-eat foods should be suspected those having striking colors, durable or not stale for several days at room temperature. It should be suspected that it contains harmful ingredients, the texture and taste of the food is not as normal as food in general. For example, the taste is still, but if the taste is bitter, it should be suspected if it contains dangerous ingredients.
