The Head of Tourism Development of the Banjarmasin Culture and Tourism Office Khuzaimi acknowledges there is a desire to change the shape or design of traditional roofed klotok tourism transportation (the traditional boat of jukung fitted with motor).

The agency, he told Antaranews, will make no much changes. It only planned to cut part of its roof to make it just half roofed. While the open part will be outfitted with seats.

The purpose, he said on Monday, is to make tourists have a free view of the natural sight while cruising the river.

According to Khuzaimi, the first phase changes are only made on two, out of 80 klotok that are currently operating.

"The process of making changes of the klotok is being worked on, until the new shape can be accepted by the community and the owner of the klotok itself," he said.

During this time, he said, roofed klotok made passengers like to sit on it, so the klotok was considered prone to accidents.
