One of Chairmen of South Kalimantan House of Representative so expected that Syamsudin Noor remains an embarkation and debarkation of hajj.
Vice Chairman of the House, H Riswandi was so deploring if the airport do not more serves pilgrims. “I am so deploring if Banjarmasin (Syamsudin Noor) will no more become the embarkation and debarkation of hajj,†he said here, Monday.
His comment is related with Saudi Arabia’s decision to limit aircrafts to its airport to decrease traffic density that only a wide-bodied aircraft with a capacity of 500 passengers, like an Airbus, will be permitted to enter.
So far, since Syamsudin Noor serves pilgrims from the region for a direct flight to Jeddah up till now, the Boeing 767 -- the widest body aircraft to land in this airport since 2004—can flies only with 350 passengers.
Riswandi advise, if only a problem of land acquisition in a matter of the completion of expansion, then we have to find root causes until a wide body aircraft can land. So, we can fulfill the requirement of Saudi Arabia.
