Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan May 2nd (AntaranewsKalsel) - The production of micro/small manufacturing industry in South Kalimantan grew positively by 12.55 percent in the first quarter of 2018 compared to the fourth quarter of 2017.


"The production of micro manufacturing industry grew 12.55 percent, which is in line with the national micro and small industry production which grew positively 3.09 percent," said Head of South Kalimantan Central Statistic Agency (BPS) Diah Utami in Banjarbaru, Wednesday.

The positive growth was contributed by four industry groups with a fairly high division ranging from 5 percent to 52 percent. They are timber, wood, and cork industries with positive growth of 52.69 percent, printing and reproduction industries of recording media 11.41 percent, apparel industry 7.54 percent, and textile industry 5.23 percent.

But two other industrial groups experienced negative growth, namely metal goods, nonmachinery, and equipment 9.56 percent, then transportation industry grew negative 7.32 percent.

Meanwhile, the production of large and medium manufacturing industries in South Kalimantan also experienced negative growth by  -2.98 percent compared to production in the fourth quarter of 2017.

The negative growth was driven by three industry groups, namely food industry -3.80 percent, wood, and wood goods -2.34 percent, rubber industry, rubber/plastic goods -2.55 percent.

"The group of manufacturing industries that experienced positive growth are chemical and chemical goods industry by 2.73 percent," she said.
