PT Smart Assists Farmers with Corn

Pelaihari, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - PT Smart Tbk, an oil palm plantation company in Tanah Laut District, South Kalimantan, help corn farmers in three villages in Panyipatan Sub-district by providing seeds.

"The three villages that we assisted in providing 850 kilograms of seedlings are Kandangan Dalam Village, Kuringkit Village, and Jilatan Alur Village," said Estate Manager PT Smart Tbk Tanah Laut area Agus Yusuf in Pelaihari, Wednesday (28/2).

According to him, the assistance of corn seeds for planting area of 57 hectares is a CSR program of PT Smart Tbk to the community around the plantation.

"This effort as a form of corporate support to national food security, because of the planting today we do the corn harvest in PT Smart Tbk partnership program," he explained.

He hoped that the aid could benefit the community, especially farmers in the three villages surrounding the company.

Separately, Head of South Kalimantan Plantation and Livestock Agency Suparmi said very appreciated PT Smart Tbk for assisting farmers in developing corn farming business.

"Hopely this followed by other palm plantation companies in South Kalimantan in an effort to support the increase of national corn production," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of South Kalimantan Agriculture and Horticulture Agency H Faturaman highly appreciated the corn harvest in PT Smart Tbk partnership program.
