ULM Pushes Implementation of Online Lecture

Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) continues to push the implementation of online system lectures as future learning development.

"We must not be frozen by the conventional learning face to face, later our college is far behind," said ULM Rector Prof. Dr. Sutarto Hadi, Friday.

However, Sutarto confirmed that the ULM is now moving forward. This is evident from the designation of ULM with seven other universities in Indonesia to develop electronic learning system or e-learning.

"This is the mandate of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education that asked universities to develop e-learning, so we prepare the complete equipment, and content that will be applied nationally," he said.

As a form of spur improving distance learning by utilizing the sophistication of technology and information, ULM cooperates with Open University (UT) who have experience about e-learning.

"Open Universities are very experienced in implementing the online system, so we hope that their knowledge can be transferred to ULM," explained Sutarto.

The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ULM and UT was signed by Prof. Dr. Sutarto Hadi and UT Rector Prof. Ojat Darojat on the sidelines of the 2018 ULM Working Meeting at ULM Rectorate Hall in Banjarmasin.

On that occasion, Prof. Ojat was also asked to give a presentation on "Online Based Learning".

In addition to Ojat, ULM also presented the Rector of Amikom University Yogyakarta Prof. M Suyanto who presented the material entitled "Higher Education in Industrial Revolution Era 4.0".

According to Sutarto, ULM had already signed MoU with Amikom Yogyakarta some time ago with the same goal, namely improving the learning process of ULM with the online system.

On the other hand, Sutarto also stressed to the entire academic community to be able to develop the campus in order to survive in the future, thus realizing ULM as a leading and competitive university.

"Campus can no longer rely on acceptance only from college dues, but advanced universities, more than 50% of revenue is precisely from other products it produces," Sutarto concluded.
