Barabai, S Kalimantan (Antaranews South Kalimantan) - Several points in Barabai, the capital of Central Hulu Sungai District, was flooding after a high rainfall intensity on Saturday night (7/1).
Places affected in the town of Barabai include Jalan Ulama, around the gate of Pasar Keramat Barabai, Kitun, Qhadi Village, Mualimin, and residents' houses close to the Batu Benawa river in Barabai.
A number of villages in several sub-districts were also affected by the floods. Especially the Village located on the outskirts of Batu Benawa and Batang Alai River.
One of Barabai residents, Agus said the water began to rise to the local residents housing at 01.00 am.
"On this night after prayer Isya, the rain was down very dense until the morning at around 7:00 am," he said.
Agus explained usually though heavy rain in the town of Barabai if the mountain area Hantakan not in heavy rain then there will be no flooding.
Whereas a few months earlier Barabai, Amrin, also Barabai residents, said HST survived the flood when other districts were affected.
"But now we have been exposed also due to very heavy rain until this afternoon the weather is still cloudy and drizzle," he said.
According to him if the weather is still cloudy and drizzle like this river water will slow down.
"In Keramat Market there is drainage that clogged up to 30 cm of water height, hopefully soon be repaired," he said.
