I really laud the character and mental outlook of the people and religious figures in the province who love peace and have high tolerance and mutual respect,Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, Dec 22 (Antara) - Religious figures in the Indonesian province of South Kalimantan have expressed their commitment to maintain political stability and order in the run-up to Christmas 2017 and the New Year 2018.
"Thank God, we are grateful that there is always religious tolerance and harmony in this province," South Kalimantan Police Chief Brig. Gen. Rahmad Mulyana remarked here on Thursday.
According to Mulyana, the concrete manifestation of the cohesiveness among religions is apparent from the joint declaration in order to maintain security and order.
A total of 136 representatives of various religious and traditional figures as well as community and youth leaders had congregated at the Rattan Inn Calamus Ballroom here to express their commitment to maintain harmony, tolerance, and peace.
The attendees vowed to always maintain peace and harmony in any situation and condition.
"I really laud the character and mental outlook of the people and religious figures in the province who love peace and have high tolerance and mutual respect," Mulyana emphasized.
In the meantime, Chairman of the South Kalimantan Religious Harmony Forum Fadly Mansoer affirmed that the Christmas and New Year celebrations will take place safely.
He said that the majority Muslim community in South Kalimantan will also escort the procession of religious festivities for Christians.
