Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The existence of Batulicin Industrial Zone (KIB) in Tanah Bumbu District will support the Special Economic Zone (KEK) in Kotabaru, South Kalimantan.
Kotabaru Vice Regent H Burhanudin here on Wednesday said the KIB in Tanah Bumbu is more focused on the production of goods, while KEK in Kotabaru is the place of transactions as well as a course for the distribution of goods.
"That is why an international port is built within KEK to serve the loading and unloading of goods from ships that have a large capacity," he said.
Consequently the existence of a bridge connecting the mainland of Kalimantan with Pulaulaut is vital for the two outstanding programs in the two districts.
Vice Regent explained that the depth of the sea in the south Pulaulaut is not found in other part of Kalimantan, it makes the placement of KEK in Mekar Putih in the south of Pulaulaut is very appropriate.
Especially Kotabaru located in the "central of Indonesia" which is in the archipelagic sea area of ​​Indonesia (ALKI) II, a quite strategic as an international trade route.
Meanwhile, KIB as the centralization of industrial activities, located in Simpang Empat and Karang Bintang Subdistricts, is an implementation of Presidential Regulation No. 3/2016 on the Acceleration of Implementation of National Strategic Program which sets Batulicin included in national strategic projects.
KIB is expected to spur and improve the development activities to realize the welfare for the community by giving opportunities to the business world to participate to accelerate economic growth in the region through investments grown here.
