Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, 25/10 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Chief of Banjarbaru Resort Police, South Kalimantan, Adj Sr Comr (AKBP) Kelana Jaya investigated alleged inmate of Banjarbaru Class III Prison suspected of controlling drug business from behind the bars.
"We investigate and assign officers to disclose allegations of an inmate controlling the circulation of drugs from within prison," he said in Banjarbaru on Wednesday.
The allegations came after the Banjarbaru Drug Police Detective arrested two members of a network of drug business from Medan, North Sumatra.
The two men with initials AF and RD were arrested on Saturday (7/10) in the motorcycle parking area of Syamsudin Noor Airport.
"Both carry sabu-sabu weighing approximately 3 ounces and they are known as members of a drug network traffickers from Medan who tried to enter Banjarmasin," he said.
The network of inter-island sabuers is suspected of carrying goods from Medan by road to Padang and then to Jakarta by air.
"The couriers brought the sabu-sabu from Jakarta to Banjarmasin and we got their arrival information, so the officers arrested them in the airport parking lot," he said.
Head of drug Unit First Insp (Iptu) Zaenuri said, his side still explore the alleged involvement of Banjarbaru Prison inmate in this narcotics network.
"The information we receive is related to the involvement of the prisoner. Hopefully, if the info is true, everything is clear," he said.
Meanwhile, the evidence of sabu-sabu seized from the two suspects has been destroyed by mixing it into a detergent solution on Wednesday (25/10).
