Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The State Logistics Agency (Bulog) in Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, came to markets in Pulaulaut Kotabaru to sell some of the basic necessities (popularly known as sembako).
"We sell sugar, cooking oil, and garlic," said Head of the Kotabaru Bulog Sofiansyah here, Friday.
Sugar, either of Tebu Mas or PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) XI production, sold at Rp11,000 per kg, Minyak Kita cooking oil Rp12.500 per liter, while garlic per kg sold at Rp17,000.
One of the purposes of Bulog came to markets is to ensure the supply availability and to control prices in order not to soar, then people's buying power stays high.
"Once in a market sugar sold at Rp15,000, but after we came over using a loudspeaker to announce that Bulog sells sugar for Rp12,000 per kg, all merchants immediately lowered price to adapt with the price we set," he said.
People who knew sugar quality bought much of sugar we brought, which is rather red as a sign it has no food color but it taste sweeter. But, for people who do not know would prefer to buy sugar which is white, he said.
Of three basic necessities that Bulog sells, cooking oil sells well. Next is sugar and garlic.
Currently, Bulog has a stock of Tebu Mas sugar about 200 tons, PTPN XI sugar 1,5 ton, cooking oil about 600 liters, and garlic of about 600 kg.
Bulog came to West Pulaulaut, North Pulaulaut, East Pulaulaut, dan some other places in Pulaulaut.
