Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - Two alumni of the University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) are now serving as ministers in the the Red and White Cabinet of the Indonesian government under the President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
"ULM is very proud and welcome Mukhtarudin who officially has been inaugurated by President Prabowo as Minister for Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI), making now two alumni of ULM in the cabinet," said Rector of ULM Professor Ahmad Alim Bachri here on Friday.
Mukhtarudin studied Public Administration at the ULM's Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisip) from 1985 and graduated in 1988.

Born in Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan, his polical journey brought him to the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) as a member for the period of 2019–2024, and was re-elected for 2024–2029 term representing Central Kalimantan electoral district.
With his extensive experience in the legislature, Mukhtarudin was then entrusted by the President Prabowo to join the cabinet as P2MI Minister when the the cabinet reshuffle held at the State Palace, Monday (September 8).
For ULM, said Professor Alim, Mukhtarudin's appointment as miniter was a concrete evidence of alumni's contribution to the national stage.

His presence in the cabinet not only brings pride for the almamater, but inspires ULM students and younger generation in Kalimantan.
Previously, Minister of Environment/Head of the Environmental Management Agency (KLH/BPLH) Hanif Faisol Nurofiq was an alumnus of ULM's Faculty of Forestry.
During the era of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono or SBY, Gusti Muhammad Hatta, a professor at the ULM Faculty of Forestry, served as State Minister of Environment and later became Minister of Research and Technology in the Second United Indonesia Cabinet.
