Martapura, South Kalimantan 17/2 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Dozens of women officers from three prisons searched Women's Penitentiary (LPP) Martapura cells on Friday.


"The search is a good initial momentum marked the establishment of the first female prisons in South Kalimantan, although the place is still one location at the Special Children's Correctional Facility (LPKA)," said head of the Corrections Division of Regional Office Ministry of  Law and Human Rights (Kemenkum) Saeful Anas Anwar in Martapura.

Head Women's Penitentiary Martapura Yunengsih said the ransack was assisted by female officer from LPKA Martapura, Banjarbaru Prison, Karang Intan and Rupbasan.

The search lasted from 12:00 pm until 15:00 pm. Hundreds of female prisoners and inmates in prisons were asked to stay out, then officers searched every corner of the room and cells.

"The search found six cell phones and chargers, 25 wired headset, 5 scissor and 6 assembled blade, and 45 lighters," she said.

She emphasized, any dangerous and illicit goods enter the prison environment will be confiscated to prevent undesired things and will be entirely destroyed.

She suggested task force police for special Women's penitentiary to be immediately formed, so it can be well coordinated.

"The establishment of a special task force police for female correctional will greatly assist the task of security in prisons, especially if it requires a female officer," she said.
