Kandangan, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The South Hulu Sungai (HSS) Police secured two residents who allegedly set fire to land for gardening.
HSS Police Chief AKBP Sukendar Eka Restiyan Putra through the Head of Public Relations AKP Agus Winartono described the securing of two residents originated from hotspot monitoring information from aqua terra satellites in Pariangan Hamlet, Batu Bini village, Padang Batung Sub-district, HSS.
A joint team of forest fire prevention which consists of police personnel, sub-district military command (Koramil), Batung Padang Sub-district and Batu Bini Village head and people rushed to the hotspot appropriated coordinates point.
It turned out there has been a burning land owned by citizens, who are residents in Pariangan.
"Thanks to the quick response of the team and fire-care community, the fires had been extinguished despite using makeshift tools, such as solo and cassava tree trunks and other tree trunks," he said.
On that occasion, the team finally arrested the two suspects namely Nw and Nm, who acknowledged they both who burn the land.
According to the suspect, the plan was the land for gardening. Both suspects resorted to burning the land to save costs. The land area has been burned covered more than 300 square meters.
Both of these residents are now detained at the police station for questioning.
